My name is Anya Peri, and I’m 12 years old. I was born in San Francisco, California and I live with my parents, younger sister and our Golden Retriever in Westchester County, New York.
My passion for art started in fourth grade, during the pandemic. It was and still is the best way for me to express my thoughts and feelings. I’m mostly self-taught and enjoy discovering new artists on social media. That’s usually how I become inspired to try something new.
I love experimenting with bright colors and mixing different textures on canvas such as modeling paste and gold foil. With my work, I want to evoke a sense of wonder, surprise and even confusion by drawing human faces in completely unexpected backgrounds. By stopping to look at my paintings, people might even see a part of themselves they didn’t know existed.
